Best Keyboard Cases for Android Tablets in 2026

A keyboard turns a tablet into a small laptop for email, documents and long messages. You have three basic choices: a first-party keyboard cover made for your exact tablet, a universal keyboard case, or a standalone Bluetooth keyboard that you pair with any device. This guide covers current options in each group, based on the manufacturers’ product pages and published reviews, which are credited where they are used. Prices are US list prices from the manufacturers’ stores in October 2026; they are approximate and change often.

If you haven’t picked a tablet yet, start with our best Android tablets 2026 roundup, since first-party keyboards only fit the model they were designed for.

What to Look For

Connection. Samsung’s and OnePlus’s covers attach magnetically and connect through pogo pins on the tablet, so there is no Bluetooth pairing for the main connection. Standalone keyboards and universal cases use Bluetooth and their own batteries.

Touchpad. A touchpad lets you point and click without reaching for the screen. Not every keyboard cover has one, so check the product page; a small Bluetooth mouse is an alternative.

Fit and stand. Model-specific covers fit precisely and protect the tablet; universal cases only fit a range of sizes. Look at how the stand adjusts and whether there is somewhere to keep your stylus.

Layout. Function rows, an AI key and shortcut keys save time. Standalone keyboards that switch between several devices are useful if you also type on a phone or laptop.

First-Party Keyboard Covers

Samsung Book Cover Keyboard Slim (Galaxy Tab S11)

Samsung’s current keyboard cover for the Galaxy Tab S11 is the Book Cover Keyboard Slim. Samsung describes a slim, lightweight cover with a built-in keyboard that holds on magnetically and connects through the tablet’s POGO connector, an LED indicator that lights up when Caps Lock is on, and a Galaxy AI key; pressing Alt and the AI key switches the assistant between Bixby and Gemini. You can still charge the tablet and use the S Pen with the cover attached, and Samsung lists a weight of 284g. Samsung’s product listing doesn’t describe a touchpad, so if you want one, plan on a mouse or check the listing before you buy.

Samsung Book Cover Keyboard Slim (Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S11 Ultra)

The larger version for Samsung’s 14.6-inch tablets is listed on Samsung’s US store as compatible with both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the Tab S11 Ultra, which is useful if you upgrade from one to the other. As with the smaller model, check the product page for features before buying, and see our Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra review for the tablet itself.

Samsung’s covers are model-specific, so for other Galaxy tablets check the compatibility line on the accessory’s product page.

OnePlus Pad 3 Smart Keyboard

OnePlus sells its Smart Keyboard separately from the Pad 3. According to OnePlus, it has a six-row layout with a function row, a dedicated AI button that brings up Gemini, and NFC for “One-touch Transmission” file transfers, and it can work detached over Bluetooth in regions where that feature is available.

Tom’s Guide’s review explains that the case comes in two parts, a kickstand section and a separate keyboard deck, with larger keys than OnePlus’s earlier keyboards and a flatter pogo-pin connector. It supports both Bluetooth and pogo-pin connections in the US, but there is no Bluetooth in Europe or the UK because of regulatory differences. TechRadar’s reviewer found the keys “mushy” and said the keyboard slid around on a desk, and also hit app problems, such as Google Docs not recognizing the trackpad’s scroll gesture. OnePlus also sells a cheaper Folio Case without a keyboard.

Universal Keyboard Case

Logitech Universal Folio

Logitech lists the Universal Folio as a Bluetooth keyboard case for 9- to 10-inch Apple, Android and Windows tablets. Android Central’s guide to external keyboards for Android tablets (updated September 17, 2026) names it the best keyboard case and notes the stand, the stylus holder and replaceable CR2032 batteries that last a year or two. The catch is size: it doesn’t fit tablets larger than 10 inches, which rules out most current Android tablets, including 11-inch models such as the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab A11+. Android Central also calls it expensive.

Standalone Bluetooth Keyboards

A separate keyboard is the most flexible choice: it works with any tablet, and many models switch between several devices. Pair it with a case that has a stand.

Logitech POP Icon Keys

Android Central’s top pick overall is the Logitech POP Icon Keys. It praises the slim, lightweight design and notes that the keyboard connects to three devices, has 15 customizable keys and runs on AAA batteries that last an estimated three years. It has no number pad, and the batteries aren’t rechargeable.

Logitech Pebble Keys 2 K380s

The successor to Logitech’s popular K380 is a slim Bluetooth keyboard. Logitech’s product page says it switches between three devices with Easy-Switch buttons, works with Android as well as Windows, macOS, iPadOS and iOS, and lists battery life of up to 36 months.

Price: $39.99 on Logitech’s US store (October 2026)

Keychron K2 (Version 2)

If you prefer mechanical keys, Android Central picks the Keychron K2 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. It connects to three devices, charges over USB-C and offers backlit, hot-swappable keys, but Android Central warns that it is heavy, large and pricier than typical tablet keyboards, with no tablet holder. Check current pricing with Keychron and retailers.

How to Choose

Choose a first-party cover if you type on the tablet every day and want a single, protective package that is always connected, with no pairing or keyboard batteries to manage.

Choose a universal case only if your tablet is small enough; most current Android tablets are 11 inches or larger.

Choose a standalone keyboard if you type occasionally, want the same keyboard for your tablet, phone and laptop, or want to spend less. Combine it with a separate case or stand.

Setting Up a Keyboard on Android

Pair a Bluetooth keyboard. According to Google’s Android Help, you can pair new accessories from the Bluetooth section of the Settings app (or by touching and holding the Bluetooth tile in Quick Settings) and tapping Pair new device. Menu names vary a little by manufacturer.

Check the layout. On Samsung tablets, Android Police recommends opening Settings > General management > Physical keyboard, selecting your connected keyboard and confirming the layout matches your hardware. It also suggests keeping Samsung Keyboard as the on-screen keyboard when you use DeX, because alternatives may not handle shortcuts such as Shift + Space, and adjusting pointer settings under Settings > General management > Mouse and trackpad.

Try DeX. With a keyboard attached, Samsung DeX gives you a desktop-style layout; according to Samsung’s DeX page, you can create up to four workspaces with up to five apps open in each. Our DeX desktop mode guide covers setup.

For the complete work setup, see the productivity setup guide. The best accessories guide covers stands, styluses, hubs and other peripherals.
